As a leader of integrated urban actions, Bydgoszcz shared its experience with cities that need additional knowledge and skills to effectively implement the idea of integrated urban planning.
The transfer of knowledge and experience began with the RES Demonstration Center in Bydgoszcz, which supports the development of innovative technologies and promotes energy generation from clean renewable sources, conducting a number of research, consulting, training and educational activities. This place was an excellent environment to hold next workshops within the MULTIPLY project and to present Bydgoszcz's sustainable energy solutions to other cities. The city of Bydgoszcz, playing a pioneering role in the MULTIPLY project, skillfully combining sustainable solutions in the project's three areas, shared with other cities its experience in the implementation of pro-energy activities, including the implementation of energy management systems in public buildings.
The participants interested in learning more about the solutions implemented in Bydgoszcz visited the Traffic and Transport Management Centre in Bydgoszcz, where the backstage of the daily work of the team was presented: traffic control with video surveillance, public transport management with dynamic stop information, handling parking information and handling of the system of driving vehicles to alternative roads.
The journey in the footsteps of effective Bydgoszcz solutions was completed in the recently modernized Animal Shelter building in Bydgoszcz. The director of the shelter guided the representatives of the cities through the energy-saving solutions installed in the facility, which resulted in the building becoming a plus-energy one and producing more energy than it consumes.
In the aforementioned Renewable Energy Demonstration Center in Bydgoszcz, representatives of MULTIPLY municipalities participated in workshops led by the project manager Ms. Patrycja Płonka. After the participants were welcomed by Office Director Anna Jaskuła, it was time to present the experience of Bydgoszcz in terms of providing appropriate conditions for effective energy management and action planning. The city, represented by Mr. Tomasz Bońdos - Coordinator of the Energy Management Team and Ms. Katarzyna Szczublewska, presented their long-term vision of the city's sustainable development and ambitious goals in the area of climate action. Ms. Katarzyna Szczublewska, the inspector in this team, talked about the document "Bydgoszcz 2030. Development Strategy", the planned Strategy for the development of electromobility, and the assumptions for the Plan for the supply of heat, electricity and gas fuels. After the introductory presentation, Patrycja Płonka started the workshop part, during which the participants discussed, among others, the vision of their city in the future and together they wondered what actions should be taken to make such a vision come true.
